Custom Screen Printing

Custom screen printing is very efficient print method. Screen printing commonly used for high volume printing which it’s when it is most cost efficient. Usually printed on garments such as custom t-shirt, pull-over sweaters and such. It can also be used on tote bags and many other items. The way this process works is with a few steps which involves setting up the job that will be printed. Most groups such as teams, business, promotional advertising will sometimes print shirts for uniforms or to give away due to the fact that a small logo will cost you the same as a larger logo with the same information. It’s advertising for events or businesses. Allow us to tell you bit of how this process works.

Vector Artwork

The majority of time clients will already have their own artwork. Vector artwork is much different than a simple JPEG or PNG which sometimes is very low resolution. When the artwork goes through vectoring process one of our graphic artist sits down and puts much time and effort to each job. The end result may look the same to the average person. When the logo is vectored the lines are crisp and straight which will be needed since that is what will go on your shirts. No one will want a blurry image or design.

Screen Set Up

Vectored logo will be printed from a special printer. You will the cover a screen with emulsion and allow it to dry. A screen is a mesh which is used to transfer ink onto a garment, except in the areas made impermeable to ink by a blocking stencil called emulsion. Once the emulsion is dry you will set the printer image on the printing side of the screen and expose it. Using a exposure unit whose purpose is making the stencil consisting of a light source and holding the screen against the film positive. When the screen is expose it will be taken to a wash off station. The emulsion that was covered by the film will be wash off creating a stencil.  Allow it to dry and then set it up on your machine. Repeat for this step for every color of the logo.
